Default OBD0 can rev how high?

My car is currently OBD0 and I tune it with turboedit, but what happens if I want to rev to say 8500rpm? The turboedit maps only rev to 7400rpm. Does this mean I need to convert to OBD1 in order to precisely control fuel/timing over 7400 rpm?

You can use a pr3/pwo and bre. Then you won't have to convert to obd1...

I'm pretty sure this method is less labor intensive. I don't know if it's cheaper. I'm not sure how much a pr3/pwo goes for these days. If it's less than the cost of a dizzy, conversion harness, and obd1 ecu, it may be a worth a shot...

go to pgmfi before you buy a pr3/pwo I'm pretty sure there is one version these ecu's that will not work with bre...

oh yeah you can use bre to edit maps for your pm6 too. Idk if you'll be able to rev higher though... once again go to pgmfi and read...

I hope you have the correct parts to be revving that high...

Hey thanks for the reply I'm not familiar with bre so I'll take a look at it. pr3 would be cool cuz then I would have separate vtec maps. I currently run a ps9 and use the auto solenoid to engage vtec... I'm guessing for a pr3 it would just be a matter of plugging it in and running the vtec wire to the proper pin.

I'm just planning ahead for my summer build. Don't worry f00ker it's gonna have all the proper bottom end oiling mods and stock rods w/ side beams polished, shot-peened and arp bolts... still haven't decided on which springs yet.

Paris,

What engine do you have? If it's a z6 like your sig says you don't need springs n retainers unless you're gonna run a retardedly high lift cam and plan on reving to to the moon.

This is jfk78's vitara motor. It has stock y8 valves, springs, retainers, with a 59300 leaning on them:

Speedfactory 10 sec SOHC VTEC compilation vid.- Video

All of these oco experts buy bisi's parts n run thirteens n/a. Then they tell everyone on here to do the same... idk why... maybe 'cause they think a 13sec honda is fast...

You seem to have an issue with the members here at OCO. If you do, then there is no reason for you to be here, especially if it is just to hear yourself bashing us!
If you do not have an issue then please explain your attitude when making this type of comment.

You're pretty closed minded. You don't seem to understand that not everyone wants/needs to go faster than 13 seconds. Lots of us don't give a shit about a 1/4 mile time. It's just a number.

13 seconds in a single cam 1.6 litre N/A is fast, especially if it's a daily driven grocery getter.

Take your negative attitude elsewhere.

The head isn't going to be done for a while, but I was trying to decide between crower or bisi springs... I'm sure either is fine for my goals so I will probably just go with bisi so my money goes to someone I actually respect.

Foowee it's gonna be a d15b2 block and a Y8 head with a mild cam... even if stock springs could handle that I'd rather be safe then sorry. I don't really care what it runs in the 1/4 mile... it's gonna get 45mpg and be loads of fun to drive.

Someone might bring up the fact that there's no need to rev that high on only a mild cam, and I know that I will be out of the powerband BUT for me there is just something exhilarating about winding out the motor and burying the tach every once in a while.
