Thanks, but talk about a longshot! This has just not been my year at the track due to clutch and tranny issues.
Still really disappointed that I didn't get the chance to lay down a time with the vitara motor, but I have a pretty interesting story about the Q16 win.
I don't have any times, because I did not have a single pass where the car would go into 2nd gear. I was so frustrated that I almost just said screw it and didn't even compete.
I missed 1st round qualifying. My 1st pass (2nd round qualifying) I pulled a 1.59 sixty, then it didn't go into 2nd, got it back in, hit 3rd, then top of 3rd the rotor in the dizzy grenaded and the car shut off. I hit the brakes and moved to the edge of the track going through the beams with a 11.75 @ 86mph. Good enough to qualify for Quick 16!
1st round elims, got a bye run and tried it again, no dice in 2nd. Walked it down. On to the next round.
2nd round elims, I made the decision to just launch the car in 2nd and try my best to play my way through rounds. My opponent redlit, and I slipped the clutch to a 1.85 sixty and slow shifted it down to a 11.0 @ 127mph. I now know it'll do 10.8 launching in 2nd if I run it like usual the rest of the way down and choose my dial-in accordingly.
Semi-final round, never expected to make it here! Decided I had to get serious and start chopping down trees to have a chance. Racing one of the VW bugs that always win these brackets. After a long stage-off, I cut a .073 light, opponent cut a .230 light and then broke. Holy crap, I'm in the final with a jacked up tranny!
Final round, up against another VW bug, buddy of the guy I just ran in the semi-final. Saw him checking his buddies slip - he knew I cut a hard light and he'd have to do likewise. So...... I played some mental games with him in the staging lanes, and rolled my dial-in back so he thought I was going to try and sandbag on him at the topend. This was followed by another long stage-off.
I cut a .074 light, he redlights (and breaks out running an 11.2 on an 11.4 dial), I win!
